Vault Update

Well, it's been a while since I have posted. The holidays were great and we were able to finish up the off season training like expected. Jumping has continually progressed over the last couple months. I'm now back to 12 steps, as of yesterday. Each session has been a series of small sucesses with no set backs.

This last session, we worked on the new run from 12 steps. Every time down the runway was a plant and with a few adjustments, we were really blowing thru poles and moving grips. Finished the day on a 16.0 holding 14.7. Technique transferred well and was able to get my hips up in my hands really quick. Next jump session I want to focus on moving over the take off a little better, especially now that I have feel of the run again.

Training is still progressing. The biggest thing I have noticed this year is the transition of my speed from hard workouts into some of my speed training. Starting to feel fast and stable with my foot strike. I'm actually running better than I have in the last couple of years or so.

Hope everyone has a great 2012.

Fall Training Update

Its been a strong start to off season this year. Im finally feeling pretty healthy and that has allowed me to get strong and fast. I've actually enjoyed the harder workouts this season and it has transfered into my jumping pretty well so far. All vault sessions have been successful to this point. We really put some initial work in from two steps to be in the right position on the pole and as we have moved back that has allowed me to latch on a ton better. Looks like we are in good shape just in time for the holidays and hope to continue this success into longer runs for indoor season.

Update

Well, we have been in offseason for just over a month now. My body is adjusting well as the weeks and training sessions progress. So far vaulting has just been from two and four steps, but is going really well. Just trying to get set up on the pole for the longer runs later.

Update

Had good warm ups in Atlanta but long rain delays for the meet. Got to run into some old friends from the college days in the SEC and Louis tagged along for a guys trip. Had a ton of fun even tho we broke a pole. Then on the 18th Louis competed at the USATF AR meet. He got silver in the 100, 200 and long jump and now moves on to regionals. I got a new pole ordered and delivered but had to move in for a few sessions at 10 steps. Turns out that was a good decision and helped with some of the tech issues I have had problems with from long run. Looking forward to the Factory Vault and on with the rest of the summer.

Update

We had a really good weekend in Birmingham this weekend. Louis and I competed in our first meet together. He did really well and showed his competitive spirit. I was really proud of him. I had a good session albeit from 8 steps due to the wind. Held 14.2 on a 17.8 l, 15 foot pole. We are looking forward to the next meet in Atlanta. Looks like a great set up at Empty Univ. Hope to jump high from long.

Update

It has been a crazy couple of weeks since the last post. We took a trip to South Dakota turkey hunting for five days and put together a couple jump sessions in between. The trip was great. We had the chance to visit a new place and see a ton of animals. The jump sessions went pretty well. Even a little tired from the trip, I could see a real difference on the confidence in the run and aggression at the box. Going to jump again in a couple of days when fresh and look forward to moving up grip on a couple bigger poles in order to be ready for some upcoming meets.

We had a good technical jump sess yesterday. A little windy, but we made it work without run thrus. We've been consistant at the take off and connecting with the pole really well. Looks like I will be opening the outdoor season at the end of the month on Memphis. Hoping the weather is good. We've have had some serious storms as of late.
