Update

Well, today we got back on track. We had a long jump session in the heat and got moving in the right direction. We started the day off battling which could be expected after a bad session a few days ago. Derek Miles was there to help me get the run dialed back in. I was surprised how far we've moved back recently as my training has increased and my heel has gotten better. Feeling very solid at the plant and producing a better swing. Hope to have some video up soon for Hayhoe.

Update

Training over the past couple of weeks has gone pretty well. I have continued jumping from 14 steps and working on moving bigger poles and making tons of bars. As part of my jump sessions, I have really focused on my bottom arm, which has always been an issue. Everything seems to be coming along fine. I think that jumping with intent and working to make some kind of a point each time I jump is putting the focus in the right place. During the last few sessions I have jumped on 4.75/15.4 poles. Best speed trap time over the last week was 1.58. I'll let you know how the next jump session goes.

Update

Since my last post, I have had some good progressive vault sessions. Each session we are out to prove at least one point and see where it takes us after that. We tested the work put in at a meet recently. It was my first outdoor session. I knew that there would need to be some quick adjustments made to make some bars. It was the first time in a while that I have been really excited to jump in a comp. I went in with a good mindset and planted every pole in the bag on first attempts. I had some blow through makes and ended on a blow through on a 15.4 flex pole. The biggest I have jumped on in a while. We had a 20 mph tail that made it more difficult to make adjustments on the runway. I followed up the next week with a short jump session starting on bigger poles on a day where I was mentally tired from work. All in all, the last couple of months I have figured out what the vault has meant to me over the last 19 years. I really like where I am at now and the mental toughness that I have strengthened during that time.
